With the beginning of summer upon us, the seaside of Chigasaki is in full bloom with hamahirugao, shalimbai, and komatsuyoigusa swaying comfortably in the sea breeze. Summer is just around the corner.
Last summer, on a particularly hot day, I visited Uozu in Toyama. The city is known for its mirage. On the day I stayed, the town was full of excitement for the Tatemon Festival, which has been registered as a World Heritage Site, and the lanterns of the floats reflected beautifully in the evening view of Toyama Bay. The green of the trees and the blue of the sea are vivid. The people are also kind. Beautiful summer memories.
My first visit to Amami Oshima.Amami in autumn has more nature and beautiful colors than I imagined. When I woke up to the pouring rain in the wee hours of the morning and went out onto the deck of the inn, I saw a panorama of the superb morning sunrise before my eyes. What a blessing. Hibiscus and Plumeria swaying between dark green. The sea is blue. Here is paradise.
Waiting for dawn on the beach in Chigasaki. From across the Miura Peninsula came the bright light of 2025. Clear weather again this year. The sea shines in the first sunrise of the year. The tip of the Boso Peninsula looked like a mirage. What a beautiful view!
Walking on the beach at sunset on Culture Day. People spend a peaceful time in the setting sun. Three portable shrines are parading along Southern Beach. Is it the autumn festival? This year is coming to an end.
I traveled to Saga from last year to this year. Karatsu, Kashima, Saga, Imari, Genkai-cho, Ureshino Onsen …. The prefecture is small, but it has more history (Saga Domain: Yutoku Inari-jinja Shrine), culture (Imari, Arita, Karatsu ware), and food (Nori seaweed, Saga beef, squid, sake) than I expected. The quality of sake is particularly high. It ranked last in this year’s prefectural national attractiveness ranking, but I feel like “Huh?.”
The equinoctial flowers have bloomed. Hot days continue, but the season is changing. The wind is somewhat cool today. Little autumn seems to have come. Here are my summer memories. I will miss the summer heat soon.
I once lived at the foot of Matsuyama Castle for three years. Ehime (Iyo) has beautiful scenery, rich history and culture, and peaceful people. There are many delicious foods and sake, so I want to live there again. I traveled to Uwajima, Yawatahama and Matsuyama three years ago. It was a nice place as always …
The lotus season. Lotus is one of my favorite flowers. The flower language is’ pure heart ‘. The sweet scent of lotus leaves is a memory of my hometown long ago. Water lilies on the surface of the water are also nice. I enjoyed many kinds of lotus flowers in Ofuna. Let’s come again next year.
Dusk at Chigasaki just before the summer solstice. It’s humid and cloudy. Mt. Fuji peeked out but soon hid …. But summer is here. Chigasaki season. Hamayu was swaying comfortably.
