去年の夏、とりわけ暑い日に富山の魚津を訪ねた。蜃気楼で知られる街だ。滞在した日は世界遺産に登録された「たてもん祭り」で街中が盛り上がり、富山湾の夕景に山車の提灯が映えて綺麗だった。木々の緑や海の青も鮮烈。人も優しい。美しい夏の思い出。

Last summer, on a particularly hot day, I visited Uozu in Toyama. The city is known for its mirage. On the day I stayed, the town was full of excitement for the Tatemon Festival, which has been registered as a World Heritage Site, and the lanterns of the floats reflected beautifully in the evening view of Toyama Bay. The green of the trees and the blue of the sea are vivid. The people are also kind. Beautiful summer memories.
