四国八十八カ所霊場の第七十九番札所。本尊は十一面観世音菩薩。開基は行基と伝えられる。境内は崇徳上皇を祀っていた白峰宮に隣接しており、お宮とお寺が合体しているような不思議な光景。歴史的な経緯から天皇寺の名称となっている。郷照寺から約6キロの道のり。途中、「もうちょっとやけん頑張りまい」という讃岐弁の遍路案内があり和んだ。当寺のすぐ手前にある冷泉で有名な八十蘇場の清水で手を洗う。脇に江戸時代から続くところてん屋がある。
That is the 79 th temple of Shikoku 88temple pilgrimage.The principal image is the 11 faced Kanzeon Bosatsu. It is said to have been founded by Gyoki. The temple precinct is adjacent to the Shiramine-gu Shrine where Retired Emperor Sutoku used to be enshrined, and the temple is a mysterious union of the shrine and temple. It is called Tennoji Temple for historical reasons. It is about 6 kilometers from Goshoji Temple. On the way, I was relieved to find a Sanuki dialect guide called “You’re almost there. Hang in there.”. I washed my hands with fresh water from the famous spring Yasoba just before this temple. Next to it is the tokoroten-ya (gelidium jelly shop), which dates back to the Edo period.
四国八十八个朝圣的第七十九座寺庙。主佛是十一面观世音菩萨。据说开基是行基。院内与供奉着崇德上皇的白峰宫相邻，神殿和寺庙合并般的不可思议的景象。由于历史的原因而成为天皇寺的名称。距离乡照寺约六公里的路程。途中，因为有“就差一点了加油”的赞岐的巡礼向导而松了一口气。我在本寺前面有名的冷泉八十苏场的清水里洗了手。旁边是从江户时代延续至今的凉粉店铺。
